Communicating Science Beyond the Lab: an Inspiring Keynote at ICYMARE 2024
In September, the ICYMARE 2024 Conference at the University of Bremen hosted a keynote delivered by Christoph Sodemann, managing director of constructify.media. He presented the YESSS project from the perspective of science communication to examplify how science can engage with constructive journalism to effectively share its findings with the world.
Together with 40 enthusiastic young marine researchers Christoph critical need for scientists to actively engage with the public, emphasizing the power of storytelling and innovative communication techniques in disseminating scientific knowledge. The keynote explored how constructive journalism and its emphasis on solutions and constructive dialogue could bring together scientific research and the general public.
The presentation sparked insightful discussions among the attendees about the importance of creative communication strategies in vital marine research. The interconnection of science, storytelling, and constructive journalism inspired a fresh perspective on how researchers can share their discoveries and foster a deeper connection with the world around them.
